Authentic Neothauma Shells

neothaumashell.jpg

$4.00 each

12 for $38.00
These shells were collected from Lake Tanganyika.  They are the actual empty shell of the Neothauma tanganicensis snail which inhabits the Lake.  These shells are used by many of the shell-dwelling species as homes and for breeding.  We use them in all of our tanks with shell dwellers.
NOTE 11/19/10:  We are sold out of the the better quality shells.  We do have some "B" grade - cracks and holes, but usable by the fish for $2.00 ea.)
Green Turbo Shell

.40 each

12 for $3.80
Similar in size to the Neothauma shells.  We have successfully spawned shell dwellers using these.
Helicostyla Codoninsis

.60 each

12 for $5.70
An attractive shell similar in size to the Neothauma and Turbo, but lighter in weight.  Should blend in well with sand or natural colored gravel.
Whelk Shell

$2.00 each

12 for $20.00
An outstanding addition to the Altolamprologus breeding tank.  We have never had Calvus or Compressiceps refuse to use this type shell.  It is big enough for the females to easily get in or out, but not so big that the male can trap her in.  We have also successfuly bred Julis in these shells.

Philippine Barnacle

3"-5''
$6.00 each

5"-7"
$8.00 each

Very attractive addition to the Tanganyikan tank and an effective breeding aid for Neolamprologus species.  We have bred all of our Brichardi species in these, as well as Leleupi and Julis.
